Forgot to say
They did not fly on the night before D day. Bud Grange went will another crew who were lost somewhere over the channel.
He was replaced by an australian called *******.
The crew stayed together until they finished flying duties in March 1945 (They flew 56 missions over enemy territory. they flew the extra over 50 so that "pen" could get his 50 as he had been wounded in July 1944 and had to spend some time in hospital).
They all survived the war.
