Warwickshire / Coventry St Michael missing Bishops transcripts
« on: Tuesday 21 October 14 22:08 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I have the Bishops transcripts for St Michael, Coventry and there appears to be data missing. It gets to June 1800 and then says "The transcript for the following period to 1804 is missing"

Does this mean it is totally missing and no longer exists or does it mean that the info wasn't captured and I would be able to go to a record office and get it?

Regards,

Rob

Warwickshire Lookup Requests / Re: Coventry Apprentice Lookup

Hi,

Did anybody know the answer to my questions around what ages apprentices could start? Is it feasible that Charles may have started his apprenticeship at the age of 9?

Regards,

Rob

Thanks Graham. Does your document give any other details?

What age did people generally start as an apprentice?

Hmmmm, possibly not my Charles then as he was born in 1776. This would make him 9 when he started work. (Unless that was normal in the late 1700's)

Thanks for looking,

Rob

Hi,

Does anybody have access to Coventry apprentice records and if so is there a Charles Fisher listed as a watchmaker at all in the late 1700's? Specifically between the years 1790 - 1793?

Occupation Interests / Holdens Triennial Directory

Hi, I'm not sure this is the right area of the forum for this but does anybody have access to the above directory for Birmingham for any time between 1800 and 1815?

I'm trying to see if Charles Fisher, Watchmaker, Well Lane, Digbeth exists before 1815 (This is the earliest I can find him on Ancestry within the 1815 Wrightsons Triennial.)

Looking forward to the help.

Warwickshire / Re: St Mary's Parish, Coventry? Does this exist?

I've searched FamilySearch and got nothing.

Just did a search on SOG for Charles Fisher with his birth range plus a few years (1775 - 1779) and got 2 results.

1 was a Boyds Marriage Index and the other an Apprentices of Great Britain record.

The problem I have now is do I spend £60 joining that site to look at those records when there is a high chance neither relate. I would pay it if I had a high confidence rate but a lot of money so far has been spent on dead ends.

Hmmm, thanks for the responses all.

I'm currently going through each of these registers that are held online manually. So far I have found a few Fishers in Stoneleigh around that time but no Charles as of yet.

Are there more versions of the registry than the ones I'm seeing on Ancestry?
