Hi Kiltaglassan,

Have removed my email, yes I am aware Shanmullagh West is a townland in kilskeery, I was responding to an earlier post regarding an Allen family from said townland who migrated to South Australia and established the farm called Flatfield in Middleton/Goolwa South Australia

Hi all,

I am a descendant of John Allen and his wife Ann (nee Cowan) through their daughter Margaret. Flatfield is the name of the farm that the Allen family owned near Goolwa, South Australia. Following the death of John the land was subdivided amongst his children, some continued to farm the land before selling it on further. The area they farmed in Goolwa was essentially a 'flat field', spread over 3 interconnected farms. I have this outlined on an old map of the area on ancestry, but the file was too large to upload on this forum:

I have been researching this family on and off for 20+ years and recently received a report from a genealogist in Northern Ireland Allen family hailed from Shanmullagh West townland in Kilskeery Parish, Tyrone, at least since the 1700's. Shanmullagh West has been colloquially referred to as Glasmullagh by locals of the time, in church records and land deeds which added to confusing research. While the report does identify where some of the Allen farms were within Shanmullagh West, there is no mention of any being referred to as "Flatfield".

I'm happy to share further information for those interested, and I am slowly updating my family tree on ancestry with supporting documents: https://www.ancestry.com.au/family-tree/tree/117146907/family?cfpid=192458630991

Unfortunately, they didnt have any more children.
Have now got birth certificate for Mary Mcgee who surname is shown as McGhee who married Patrick McLoughlin so have now confirmed the McLoughlin family came from Galway

captainjackdi, I am a descendant of this very family. Have you had any luck with your search?? I am trying to piece together information I received from a cousin.

Hi All,

I am new to the forum but am researching the Le Gallez family as part of my ancestry...

*Please note this information is a little vague as I haven't updated this resource for some time. The jpeg file attached has more accurate lineage information (hopefully you can read it).

Le GALLEZ      Esther

b. abt 1813      Guernsey, Channel Islands

d. 8/4/1875      Prospect, South Australia

m. approx. 1833      Guernsey, Channel Islands.

EDWARDS      George
*Became a cordwainer, i.e. a cutter of leather   uppers – a shoe maker

b. 15/1/1814      Parish of Charles, Plymouth,         Devonshire, England

d. 23/4/1872      Adelaide, South Australia

*George and Esther arrived in South Australia,   on the sailing ship Moffat on 19/12/1839.

My Le Gallez line also contains the following families: Queripal, Herival and Gore and all seem to be from Guernsey...

Before I go trolling through Census records and alike - does anyone have any information on these families? If you are part of these families I can provide you with information regarding their descendants in South Australia :)

Thanks
