Thanks again.
The info is very helpful. I did not  know the Richards were non conformists. The Bucks in Norfolk are part of my family so this was interesting. I will try to locate the will. You seem to have access to a lot of sources!

Dear Artifis
Thanks you for your encouragement. I have managed to see the St Mary's baptisms but not the marriages and deaths. I will persevere. And also try St  Giles. Any background material would be welcome. I have full details of my Holloways going back to 1600  they stayed in Emsworth until John Shotter moved to Berkshire  so I am afraid we are not related.

Thanks for rapid response

Dear Rosie9

Thanks for yours

Mainly from Ancestry: I have marriage of John Shotter Holloway to Elisabeth Richards in 1793 at St Mary's in Reading
Marriage of his son Charles Holloway to Elisabeth's niece in 1845 at same church.
Birth of Elisabeth in 1793? to Richard and Mary Richards (woolen draper)
who had a shop on Sun Lane in Reading.
Earlier references to Swithen Richards
There are several Richard Richards in Reading whom I want to sort out and also trace the origin of Swithen Richards.

I hoped someone might have family tree!

Please excuse the notes but at 94 it is a bit daunting.

Yours

My great and great grandfathers both married related Richards girls from Reading in the 18th and 19th centuries. They seem to be related to woolen drapers Swithen and Richard Richards. Any information would be welcome. My family name is Holloway

Australia / Re: HOLLOWAY brothers - Joseph and Robert Walker, Victoria 1850s

For the  Holloway reputation I enclose  self explanatory. obit. I think they were collecting gold from the diggers and taking it to the Bank at Sandhurst. but died before making any money.

Their father was a well to do farmer and as the younger sons they probably emigrated in the hope of making a fortune!

I am a bit confused none of the posts seems to have a date year, and is "Jazz" involved somewhere?

Joseph Holloway Death Notice in Australia

Joseph Holloway. On the 21st February  1854  at the Government  Camp Sandhurst, Bendigo, after a lingering illness, Joseph the second and last surviving son of the late Joseph Holloway Esq, of East  Leigh  Havant, in the 41st year of his age . About two months earlier, his brother, R. W. Holloway Esq. died at Melbourne  and from the instant he received the melancholy tidings, he may be really said never to have held up his head. Mr Holloway was amongst the earliest of the colonists who made the over land journey from   Sydney to Victoria, and the writer of these lines, having been connected with him for many years  and made many long and trying journeys with him, can testify to his goodness of heart, his generosity and uniformly kind and honorable conduct, and his numerous friends – all who knew him intimately  _ will deeply deplore his loss. His remains were followed to the grave by the Resident Government Commissioner, the Police Magistrate, all the Camp officers and a few private friends                         .Bendigo Gazette Feb 23 1854

Hi
I think we were in touch some years ago.I cannot see when your entry was posted. If it was fairly recent I may have more information on the brothers gathered from helpful people in Australia. They were involved in the Gold Rush. If you want any more please let me know.

My memory is failing. Have I replied before? If not come back, my Hollloway tree has about 450 family members from about 1600 including my great grandfather the rev Charles who had no connection with the city of Oxford and certainly was not buried there. You are welcome to contact me if necessary.
Don't expect a rapid reply as I am coming up to 92.
