#3 in my grandmother's box of mystery photos. I actually have a good idea of who everyone in this photo is, but only if it dates to the right time period.... any ideas? As always, I appreciate any help anyone provides and if people with date-suggestion could kindly explain HOW the date was arrived at that would be a huge plus (example: that hat style was only worn from year A to year B). Thanks again!

He could, of course, be wearing a Boy Scout uniform.  The first group was set up in the USA in 1908 and the uniform was very similar to the one being worn in the photo.

I am relatively certain this is NOT a boy scout's uniform. The scouts of that era appear to have had different uniforms.

The following page has photos of WW1 soldiers wearing almost the identical shirt with the low chest-pockets, although a different tie. The shirt in my photo is slightly different in that the sleeves have a strange "ruffle" about half-way down the bicep.

Thanks for the info! Not that I doubt anyone's knowledge, I'm just curious how you dated the clothes? Are the hats of a particular style, the type of dress was limited to certain years, etc?

Thanks again -- it's very appreciated!

I don't know enough about men's fashion to gander a guess there, but I wouldn't place this man to be any older than 25 in this picture. My guess is more like 22-23.
