Hi -

I wonder if you could help either prove or disprove a family story that my Great Grandfather, William Marley Sprague ran away from home in the mid 1880's to join the army (Welsh Regiment I think) and later fought in the Boer Wars. He "disappeared" from records between 1881 and 1897 when he married.

although I already had that - it is just that in the 1841 Census William is 2 and in 1851 - he is 10! Just wanted to try and pinpoint birth year, but maybe I just won't be able to...........

I am looking to confirm the birthplace/date of my Great Grandfather - William Sprague, son of John (and Ann?) born in either Stawley or Ashbrittle around 1839.
Sprague is also listed sometimes as Sprage. Can anyone help?
