Hi...

I have had a look, and found in 1891 census

Robert Dobbie Head age 33
Eleanor            Wife   age 25 b Durham
Robert             Son      age 10 months b Durham
Emily Fields Servant Age 17

I looks to me that Robert was working as a Farmworker.
It looks like they were living at 37 Denham Road....I found it a bit difficult to read, so others here may be able to help

Cheers ;D

I know that you can view births/marriages/deaths at sea...in the Family Record Centre in London.

One of my ancestors died at sea and I was able to get his death certificate by doing that.

Im sure other record offices would also hold the information

Good luck ;D

The Common Room / Working class families ?????
« on: Sunday 17 April 05 18:03 BST (UK)  »
I have an ancestor that was working as a servant in 1891. She married in 1892 and did'nt go out to payed work following her marriage.

Does this mean she came from a really poor family....or did all working class families send there daughters out to work before they married ?????

I would be grateful for your thoughts. ;D
Thanks

Cassie

I don't know much about ancestry, but as far as I know their BDM data is simply a copy of FreeBDM. It's free to use (you do not need a subscription) - I use the Ancestry version when FreeBDM is being super slow.

Can someone please correct me if this is wrong - I didn't think they had the complete register.

Trish

Thanks for that info Trish :)
