New to this forum - in fact just discovered it doing a photo search for the photo you posted. I do not know if anyone will see this message.
This (http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=291195.40) is the Ballinasloe [Galway] Company of the Irish Volunteers, 1914. The man seated fourth from left (and fourth from right) is my father's uncle John Thomas Greeves-O'Sullivan (1875-1924). He (and from what I understand, most of the other men in this photo) joined the British Army (Connaught Rangers) shortly after this picture was taken to fight in the Great War - heeding England's call to the Wild Geese to prove Ireland's worthiness for independence. John Thomas returned to Galway in 1919, many of those who went with him did not. He died in 1924, possibly by his own hand.
