Hello Jan,
Last week I hiked the hill in Penang to see first time myself the ruins of James Scott's house where the jungle has returned over the past 2 centuries.
When I mentioned this "discovery", was told that a grandson of James named Philip was a school contemporary of my dad at St Xaviers Institution, in Penang, in his teenage years. Philip was about 2 yrs older. From hearsay, it seemed Philip eventually left Penang for India before the Japanese invasion of Malaya.
