Cambridgeshire Lookup Requests / Re: James Arthur Walter BETHELL

I think there were more "porkies" than just his second marriage.  Very very confusing family.  Just can't get a good run on any of them and they also seemed to move around A LOT. One of the daughters from James' first marriage married a man from Norfolk but for some reason chose to get married in Yorkshire

I am hoping someone could look up this marriage that was registered in 1847 in Stow.  I am struggling with this family as records are seem to be conflicting.  I would be very interested in finding out more about 2 baptism records for Mary Augusta Alyliffe.  There is one in 1820 in Tostock to parents William and Charlotte and another in 1830 in Thurston to the same parents. A potential 1851 census record indicates birth was abt 1825 in Woolpeth (Woolpit), Suffolk, England.

I was wondering whether anyone had access to the parish records of St. Andrew the Less, Cambridge and could look up the baptism of James Arthur Walter BETHELL in 1824.  I would very much like to find out the names of his parents.

Thanks Tony & Carol, an electoral record with the same address is a good sign.  I found the death you mentioned on free BMD but not ancestry. I am not familiar with London areas and I assume Lewisham is not out of the question for a death registration if you lived in Deptford.
Also Elizabeth Boucher had a daughter also named Elizabeth with a birth year of 1878 so Stephen Cover must be our man.  Thank you very much for your help.

Wondering whether anyone could help shed some light on a second husband of Elizabeth Sarah BOUCHER (nee Ellis).  On the 1881 census Elizabeth Boucher is living in St Paul Deptford with her children and is a widow (husband William Boucher appears to have died in 1879).  On the 1891 census Elizabeth is still a widow living in St Paul Deptford but her surname has changed to COVER and remains that until her death in 1923.  I have searched Ancestry & free BMD for a marriage and not found anything and I have also looked for a possible death in the Greenwich area for anyone with the  surname of COVER between 1882 and 1891.  Elizabeth Boucher/Cover changed addresses between 1881 and 1891 but still remained within the Deptford parish. Would love any clues on who Mr Cover may have been.

Essex / Re: Elizabeth Ellis born abt 1840 in North Weald Essex

Thank you everyone. The marriage looks good.  I rechecked the 1841 census and the family were living in Hastingwood Common. As for a baptism, the mystery remains.  Elizabeth did have a sister Mary (who didn't!) who was approx 1 year older so that should be the baptism in St Mary & St Hugh Harlow.  There was an older child James Ellis born in approx 1837-8.  There is a potential birth record for him in Epping.  dad John was an ag labourer so they may have moved around slightly for work perhaps. Again, thanks for the extra eyes.  Sometimes you can search & search and just not see what you need to find.

Essex / Elizabeth Ellis born abt 1840 in North Weald Essex

I have lost track of this ancestor and I am hoping someone could help shed some light on her.  The details I have so far is that she was born abt 1840 in North Weald Essex.  I have found the 1841 and 1851 census where she is  living in North Weald with her parents John & Ann Ellis. In 1859 she gave birth to a baby girl named Fanny in Harlow, Essex.  On Fanny's birth record there is no father named and Elizabeth was recorded as having a middle name of Sarah. She had a Harlow address (can't make out the street name).  This is the last I can find on Elizabeth or Elizabeth Sarah Ellis.  Her baby Fanny was living with grandparents John & Ann Ellis on the 1861 census and with step relatives on the 1871 census. Fanny's marriage record to John Dorrington states that her father's name was Henry Ellis and that he was a publican.  I have no idea whether there is any fact behind that.  I suspect that it was made up.  I would love to find out what became of Elizabeth.

That baptism record gives the birth date of 14 Dec 1798.

no I think the David Dorrington who died in 1828 was his father.  I haven't got back to that generation properly yet.  The David Dorrington who married Sarah Brown has parents named David and Mary.  There is a tree that states the Mary was Mary Rainbird but I haven't researched that yet.  If there is a marriage in the parish records with that information I would be very happy to know that as well!!
