The Common Room / Re: R.A.O.B. or Buffaloes

Hi Den

I wonder if you could help me?  A few weeks ago I emailed someone in the R.A.O.B, but have not had a reply yet.  I know my grandfather, Ernest Praid (born 29/4/1888) was in the R.A.O.B, but would like to try and find out more.  I have no idea which lodge he was with and what his title was.   He was born in London but left home at 10, living in Wales (1911 census) then moving on to Shropshire (was in WW1), Yorkshire and then Kent.  If you need any more info, I can elaborate.  In the photo I am attaching, he is sitting 2nd from the left with CH on his "apron". He actually took this photograph with the aid of a timer.  I have no idea what year this was taken.  Any help would be much appreciated.

Kind regards

Jacqui

Hi Caz

I don't think your Cainham Parish records will help me, but both of my grandparents worked at Cainham Court in the early 1900's.  You wouldn't know where I can find records of the staff , so I could find out when my grandfather first started there.  If not perhaps someone out there may be able to help me.

My grandfather was Ernest Prade (Praed or Praid) born 1888 London and grandmother was Mary Jane Bebb born 1893 Grinshill Salop and they married 1/6/1914 Grinshill.  I was told he was a groom and she was a lady's maid at Cainham Court.

Any help would be appreciated.

PS what do you mean by a pm???

Yes it is, Jacob should read Jack. Thanks for showing an interest.  I really would like to find out more after 1901, especially my grandmother Dora Ann's siblings.  I have a few leads but not much info and hardly any photo's, so I'm hoping there may be Coxall relatives out there somewhere that can help me.

Edwin and Maria have also been rather difficult to trace before they moved to Lincolnshire.  He was born in Shrewsbury and she born in Willenhall, Staffs.  I have gone down several lines but cannot prove anything.

Lincolnshire / COXALL Family

I'm looking for more information on Edwin and Maria (nee Slater) Coxall and their descendants. They were married in 1891 in Scunthorpe, had children and stayed in the area.  Edwin died in 1903, Maria then married a Josiah or Joshua Cross.

In some records; including their daughter (my grandmother) Dora Ann's birth cert the surname has been recorded as Cox and Edwin as Edward.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Shropshire Lookup Requests / EDWIN COXALL born 1855 Shrewsbury
« on: Thursday 18 August 05 20:12 BST (UK)  »
I'm having trouble finding my great grandfather Edwin COXALL on any of the census expect for 1901 where he, his wife and family (residing in Lincs.) are listed as COX.

On his marriage cert he is COXALL and his father is William COXALL (labourer).  He married in 1891 to Maria SLATER in Lincs., but on my grandmother Dora's birth cert the name COX appears again!

I would also like to find Edwin's birth or baptism cert to find his mother's name and to see what surname he has.  Any information would be appreciated.
