Thank you for all who helped. We were able to find his marriage and birth of two daughters and had a great trip to South Africa.

His name was Robert Jack Calder, born 1888, died 1945. He married but we have no knowledge of his wife's name or when or where they married. We do know that he did have at least one daughter called Edith. He lived in Durban most of his life, after leaving Scotland in about 1911.

I have a relative who emigrated to Durban in 1911. As I will be visiting South Africa next year, I am interested in finding more information, such as BMD and census records. Does anyone know where I can find these records, either on-line or in South Africa?

Hi, I too am researching the origins of the Boylin name, which I believed to be Irish. It now seems to be written as Byollin in the Ellesmere records as far back as 1678. Did you get a conclusion to the origin of the name?

Yes I have searched on Bing, it just asks if I mean Bolling or Bowler. The name Byollin is very clearly written on numerous entries in the church records over a period of 150 years.

I am researching the Boylin family in Loppington, Shropshire in the 1800's. It seems the name was previously Byollin. I have found records for Byollin in Ellesmere as far back as 1678. Can anyone please tell me where the name originates .
