Hi Peter.  Sorry it's been a couple of days for contact.  Oops, made a big booboo before.
Greg's g'parents were William G FRENCH, NOT King and Alexandria Maud KING. 
William George FRENCH b.1875 d.1961
Alexandria FRENCH, nee KING b.1875 Waterloo district NSW d. 1963 Marrickville NSW district
marriage date - 1904
Alexandria's parents:  Frederick KING and Emma SMITH
Frederick's parents:  James Kelsey KING and Mary BAKER

Don't know if there is a connection to Governor KING or not as yet.

Thankyou Peter for all that info.  Our brother in law will be pleased with all that.  He's always been told as a child that the French family were related to Governor King - perhaps there's a connection?????

Hi fellow finders.

I'm doing my b-I-l's family - FRENCH.  I've had help from a lovely lady from Genealogy Research Assistance, who has been fantastic ;D.  She put me onto this site, so I would like to follow it up pls.

I have a Robert FRENCH m Elizabeth PILE.  Robert lived at Salehurst, Sussex as did Elizabeth.
Elizabeth's parents were -   Samuel PILE and Mary Ann Sharpe PILE married22/9/1805
Robert and Elizabeth came to Australia on the 'China' on 7/9/1841 with children GEORGE, WILLIAM, ROBERT, ELIZA.

CHILDREN - Robert, 1806 and Sarah 1826 (ages estimated)

I have Robert FRENCH m. Catherine (Kitty) Croft (no yr. atm).

If this is the same family FRENCH as you have here, I'd love to get some more info pls.
