Cass and Sue fabulous work. As you can see from this post, I have been working on this for years and you both have given me the last information I needed in less than 24 hours. Great work and many many thanks for the support. I never found any hint of Linklater in my own researching as Christy McDonald is a very common name in North Uist and Christy translates into a myriad of derivatives there. I had many false leads on her in Australia and none of them came to fruition. Her mother was Mary Cameron my great great great aunt. Christina was the last child of Mary’s that I had yet to trace.

Folks, I have now traced all information on the lives of Murdoch, Catherine and Margaret McDonald in Victoria, their husbands and children also. The only child I have not a complete record of is Christine McDonald.
Many thanks to everyone that answered my early questions on this family. If anyone can shed light on the marriage of Christina in Victoria it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Liz, great to hear from another contact with links to my family tree. Tania sent me word about a possible contact living in Alaska just the other day and here you are. Your Ronald Cameron b1831 was the older brother to Angus Cameron b. about 1841 who was my great grandfather. I will send you a PM with access instructions to my family tree which is on-line. Feel free to peruse it and send me any corrections and/or additions. They will be very welcome. I will add your info from above to my tree and update it soon. My father's parents died long before I was born so I never met them. I remember a chance meeting with one of my father's brothers in Glasgow when I was about 6 years old, but never met any other of his siblings. I never even knew we originated from North Uist till I started my FT research as my father told us that his father came from Islay. My father was only 8 years old when his father died. More info to follow in the PM. Kind regards Ken Cameron

Hi maccavr,

Thank you for the contact and info within it. I am always happy to chat about possible links to my FT.

The Henness family name is not one that I've come across so far and look forward to exploring that possible link.

I attach a pdf of links found in my Australian research so far and hope you can recognise someone in it.

My NU ancestors have a few links to MacLeans there and it would be good to expand that also.

Kind regards,
Ken

Hi Sandy,
Always glad to hear from others working on family trees, especially if they link with mine. I am still working on my tree and would love to exchange info with you.

Hi Eilidh,
Delighted to hear from you, and to find out that part of the Cameron clan are still living at Cladach Kylis.
I will send you more information via a PM, but will be delighted to accept any info you wish to give me. My family tree is supposed to be about the Cameron name but has been swamped by Macdonald and Laing roots. Any increase in Cameron branches will be most welcome.
Look forward to giving and receiving FT info with you.
Kind regards
Ken

Hi Shelley,

It is wonderful to hear from you. I had almost given up hope of ever making contact with a distant relative (literally and figuratively) from Australia. I would be very interested in any information or details you wish to share with me, and will be only too happy to reciprocate.

I will send you a PM with my email details. I am rewriting my family tree website to make it more accurate and up to date. It is about one third done, so an injection of Oz family member details will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Ken
