Hello Nicola,

I can see that its been a few years since you posted your message onto this site but just wanted to make you aware that I am descended from the London Butti family. The Alexander Stephen Butti born in London not in Como was witness at my great grand mother's wedding (Emily Butti) and she I believe was Alexander's sister. Thanks

Good news! and thanks very much for your help
I had ordered the birth certificate for George Montague Clements which arrived over the weekend and this confirms that he is the person that I am looking.
George’s birth cert contains the same birth address / parents’ names of my grandfather’s so this almost certainly confirms he was the brother of my grandfather.
I will be ordering the death certificate per your recommendation in surrey 1993.
The next question I have for you – my main objective with ordering the death cert will be in hope that the name of his wife (if he married) will be on the cert so I can then order the married certificate +birth cert of their children
My ultimate aim is to ascertain whether George Montague Clements had any children + grandchildren
Any advice on how I can achieve obtaining the names of George’s children + Grand children?
Thank you,
Marcus

Any advice?
Thanks,

Hello All,
I am stuck again and need some advice.
I am trying to obtain the name of my grandfather’s brother however I do not know how to obtain this information.
At the time of his birth in 1922 my grandfather was living at the following residence so I presume his brother would have also been living there ;
The Green,Crockenhill,Eynsford,Kent
The only information I do have about my grandfather’s brother was that he was an older brother.
The surname would have been Clements
Can anybody help?
Thanks,
Marcus

Hi Drew,
Thanks for the reply.
I am struggling to locate the WW2 Talk forum area you have mentioned – can you point me in the right direction?
To your second point – how many pages are available of the diaries?
Thanks,

World War Two / 2nd Battalion within the Buffs

Hi All,
Just looking for some advice / answers regarding my grandfather’s time during WW2 with the 2nd Battalion within the Buffs;
Our family doesn’t know much about his time during WW2 because like many other veterans he never really spoke about his time overseas.
I have included his service records below and have some questions if anybody is able to help
By looking at his service records it appears he was part of BEF in France – I have searched this via the internet and it appears BEF in France withdrew via Dunkirk due to the strong advances of the Germans and many of the British Regiments were evacuated – my grandfather was one of them however we don’t know much about what his regiment did during this period in France – any ideas?
We have no idea what would have happen during his 169 days with the Army Reserve would he have been in the UK or overseas?
One of my main questions would be during his latter time in the army – there is no mention of his time spent in Italy within his service records only his time spent in North Africa – could it be that they failed to mention his time spent in Italy or would this just be combined with his service spent in North Africa? Any ideas?
He defiantly spent time in Italy because i have his service medals which includes European Star for his time in France / the Italian Star and the African Star
My father was also told that he was as present during the Battle of Anzio.
Many thanks for your help
