The properties on Brinnington Road that face what was the allotment site are still there as far as I know. You can see these by logging into Google maps - Streetview - 14 Brinnington Road  https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@53.417722,-2.144318,3a,37.5y,135.4h,85.36t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1sE5IJ8UcLNX8DEFQg8mNZGQ!2e0

Then follow the road to the east.  The situation is now complicated by a motorway bisecting the area.

I will try and find pictures of the area from my contacts that could be what you are searching for.

Hello

I lived just across the road from St Paul's Church (27 St Paul's Street) and it was an immediate view when we looked from the house window or front door.  The artist who painted it was a guest at our house (long before I was born) and I believe that he gave the painting to my parents.  My older brother (now deceased) sang in the church choir as well as having been a pupil at the church school which was across the road in the other direction, on the corner of Portwood.

I inherited it after my parents died and as I could not hang it at that time I loaned it to Stockport Museum (as it then was).  Recently it has been returned to me and I have had it reframed.  The original plain frame can still be seen on the heritage web site.

As far as I am aware, this is the only oil painting of St Paul's in existence.

I tried to attach a pic as you outlined but there was a hitch and it didn't seem to work.  However, when I tried again I got a message that a pic with the same attachment name was already on the site.  I cannot find it and I cannot see any message that I have left after the one to which you responded.

.....

Later - eventually made it I think.  Sorry about the quality, but the pic was taken and amended to show up the frame for the benefit of Stockport Heritage Services.

I would like to include a picture of St Paul's Church, Portwood, Stockport in some family history notes.  Understand the church has been demolished?

Grateful for advice on where I could find a picture

I have what I believe is the only oil painting in existence of St Pauls Church, Portwood, Stockport.  I have tried to post a picture here but unsuccessfully.
