Thanks for bringing the SWB Lists to my attention. When i've looked at his MIC in the past I never considered that it could be something as I hadn't heard of a SWB List. Finding him on the list has given me an enlistment date and a discharge date which is helpful.

Thank you JJen! That is some impressive researching! Whilst I cannot 100% say that this is the James Dixon I am after,I am however, very confident that it is. Different documents are starting to link together.

Barbara Heston/Easton appears in the 1891 census as Barbara Dixon, working in another household as a servant. Her age is 16 at the time which would suggest that it might be the same Barbara featured in the 1881 census JJen posted . Also I have looked into Samuel Dixon, who appears to have died on the Somme in 1916 with the 9th Northumberland Fusiliers. On his page on the CWGC it states that he is a brother to Mrs Heston.

My Second Great Grandfather, Private James Dixon fought in the First World War with the Northumberland Fusiliers. I've been told before that his service number  7/3415 indicated that he might have served with the 1/7 Northumberland Fusiliers. His service number was later changed to 290950. His date of entry into France was date of entry was 01-09-1915. I'm sure that it is quite unlikely but have you comes across him?

Yes the Walkergate 51 address is from the 1937 marriage certificate between Mary A S Dixon and James Robison. So perhaps they moved from number 38. As for Mary A S Dixon, do you think she was just registered a week later than her actual birth date?

Thank you all for your help. I gave up over a year ago as I was not getting any where when searching for him, so your assistance today is much appreciated. I'm considering contacting the Northumberland Fusiliers Museum up in Alnwick to  see if I can uncover any more information on his First World War Service. From his first service number, I think he may have been in 1/7 btn Northumberland Fusiliers.

Yes i've come across his medal card. However, I believe that his service record no longer exists.

Thank you all for your replies. You've given me a lot of new leads. Davidft the name that I was unsure about, the ... T. Dixon may actually be Isabella. Is there a way that I can upload the image of the name onto this site?

I believe that there may have been an Ethel. Also on the marriage certificate, there is a ..... T. Dixon as a witness. The first name might be Joshua but it's difficult to make out.

Thank you for your reply,

Yes I came across the Mary A S Dixon registered in 1914 and was wondering whether it could be the same person. I have also found the marriage between James Dixon and Alice Storey but was uncertain whether it was the James Dixon I was looking for.  It is only from the marriage certificate that I have found Simpson being used as a middle name. I wasn't sure if Simpson would have been her mothers maiden name or not and this is why I was uncertain with the link with Alice Storey.
