Thankyou both very much for your replies. I had only a few of the name you gave me.Looks like quite a few were born around that time. The Susan listed I had looked into but she was not in Ireland when my grandfather was born.
Once again I appreciate your replies :)

Cavan / Rudden Cavan

Hello,I am trying to find out anything I can on my great grandmother Susan Rudden. I have not a lot to go on, only my Grandfathers birth certificate.
James Rudden born 5/8 1891
Work house Monaghan
Mother Susan Rudden
Father not listed.
I know that Susan died on 23/3 1921 in Glasgow age 60 but I am thinking this is only a rough age. She never married.I was told that my grandfather James who died in 1945 used to refer to himself as a Cavan lad .This makes me think that although born in Monaghan he must have lived in Cavan in his early years.
If anyone can suggest where I should be looking it would be much appreciated.

thankyou very much. I was just a bit baffled by the name National.
Just another question, could any religion go to a National school?

Cavan / Cavan. Schools.

Hello,
while looking for records available for Cavan and Monaghan on the LDS site I noticed they had some school records. One of them was  the Drumaloor National School Registers from 1872 - 1967. Could someone please tell me what type of school a National School is, as I am not sure on the Irish School system.
Many thanks
