Perthshire / Re: Sorley Sorlie how they were in Perthshire

ENGLAND
I have Stella Sorlie b 1801,(only child?) Essex
her father Capt Sholto Douglas Sorlie. (is definite)
Was he son of James and Mary Ferguson m:1770?
and married twice 1. Mary/Margaret Bellwood,1796. In Yarms?. She dies 1809?
2.. Mary Yates, 1812. In Wakefield
there is also a Corporal & Leiut S.D. Sorlie perhaps the same person. Scottish men did fight for GB in wars with Napolean c18th-C19th
SCOTLAND
James Sorlie marries Mary Ferguson. 1747? 1776?
Parents of the Capt Sholto Douglas Sorlie (as above)?
NORWAY Sorlie is a Norwegian name. see Scottish Norwegian Soc.
