Hello there,
James Tolhurst is my 6x grt grandfather. His daughter Ann who married Zebulon Swain is my 5x grt grandmother. I would love any information at all you have on the family beyond her. I am currently researching my female lines with great interest.

Regards,

Danielle

That would be great Cathy thanks! He was my nanny's father and I don't think she knew anything of this!

Ah, I see. In that case I think it is definitely him. He was in Lewis prison for the 1911 census. I wonder what they did exactly. Thanks so much for this  :)

Also, did it mention addresses or family of the men as I do have quite a bit of information for him at this time. Thanks again.

Hi cathy, that is interesting because William Weston was a railway porter. I know he was a porter before prison and in his later life though so not sure if it is the same man because I'm not sure if the railway would employ him again would they???

This is very interesting and I need to do more digging. He would be about 24 in 1901 though not 33 but I can't imagine there being 2 William westons in Hastings who were both porters!

Thank you  ???

I wonder if anyone can access prison records for Lewes to find William Weston who was there in 1911. He was born in Hastings around 1877. I would love to know what he did and how long he was there for  :)

OOh just noticed Ladyhawk. If Jean Scott is Francis White's mother it looks like she had him when she was 13 years old looking at the birth dates. Will be checking this out.

I agree with Jennifer and think maybe it was recorded as butcher in 1851 by mistake. This is exciting for me because after years of doing my family history and finding 386 individuals, Francis White is the first person to be born in a country other than England! Looking forward to doing some scottish searching, thanks Ladyhawk for that info on Francis. I looked at my records and I have very little information about Caroline, she is my great-great-great-great grandmother, or I prefer, my great-gran's great-gran! I wonder where the 'Hastings' comes from in her name? Anyway, thanks all for your help :)
