Lincolnshire / The Strapps Family of Lincolnshire
« on: Wednesday 08 April 15 19:14 BST (UK)  »
Hello,  my Strapps ancestors originated in Kyme, Lincolnshire.  Is there anyone on the Forum who has Strapps origins?   I would like to exchange data if we have a common ancestor.  Thank you.

Hello Bob,

How do I send a PM from this website.  I don't know how to do that.

Thanks,

Sylvia

Hi Bob,

Yes, that certainly looks like my Henry.  His daughter Mary Jane Flinders was my great-grandmother.  My mother, who left Nottingham in 1913 just about remembered her.  My mum was eight years old when she immigrated to Ontario, Canada.

I would be pleased to have details about Mary Jane and her siblings.  Thank you very much for your help.

Best Regards,

Sylvia

Hello, Bob and Tati,

Regarding Henry Flinders, it seems I received incorrect information when I started researching my Flinders lineage.  Further research has revealed a Henry, baptized April 10, 1809, in Nottingham.  It's easy to understand the confusion with the other Henry, born in 1809.  I am grateful to have found this website so I can correct my records.  Now the task is to find the ancestors of Henry, born in 1809.

Many thanks to you both,

Sylvia

Hi Tati,

I wonder if we are talking about the same Flinders family.  My Henry's parents were William Flinders and Elizabeth Wright.  His death certificate states that he died in Nottingham in 1883 and his wife Catherine was present at his death. Who were your Alfred's parents.

Thanks,

Sylvia

Hi Bob,

It seems we have ancestors in common.  Your Alfred Flinders was a brother of my Henry, baptized February 16, 1807. I am curious about Alfred's reasons for emigrating to France, and also about the names of his children.  It would be interesting to know if there are descendants in France.  Perhaps we can be of mutual help.

Sincerely,

Sylvia Strapps-Coon

Hi Susan, I am very pleased to have your quick reply.  However, I also have trouble navigating this board, so I pressed the Reply button on different message from you, not the one you sent me yesterday.  What do you need to know specifically about the earlier Strapps.  I have traced the family back to Thomas and Mary in Kyme, Lincs.  Their first child was Rose, bap in 1593.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
Sylvia

Hello Everyone!

I am a new member of rootschat.com and delighted to find Strapps cousins on the website.  My 2xgreat-grandfather was Richard Strapps, the father of Sarah Strapps, who was born in 1839.  Richard married Sarah Burnett about 1829, and they had two daughters, Sarah, bap Aug 29, 1831, and Annie, bap Feb 15, 1834.  Both of them were baptized at Sleaford, Lincolnshire.  I have a great deal of information about the Strapps family in Lincolnshire and would be pleased to share it.

I would also like to know more about the children of Henry Lowe and Sarah Strapps, who immigrated to Manitoba and British Columbia.  I look forward to hearing from possible cousins.

Thank you.

Sylvia Strapps-Coon
