Family History Beginners Board / Help with a couple I'm stuck on?!

Hi All,

I'm really stuck with a couple in my family tree.  I have them on census's from 1861 and 1881 as a married couple and both of their birth years and places, yet I cannot find info on either set of parents.  I have no maiden name for the wife and, really the only evidence I have of birth dates/places for either of them comes from census's.  I'm not sure where to go from here, so I'm hoping if I list all their info below, someone might be able to give me a clue where to look next?!

John Stevenson, born about 1813 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire.  Listed on the 1861 census as living in Bermondsey, Surrey.  Occupation believed to be "Government Gun Lock Inspector" at the Royal Small Arms Factory in Edmonton, Enfield. (I had help on here earlier to translate the occupation!) In the 1881 census he is listed as living in Enfield, Hampshire and working as a gun maker at the royal SA factory.

Amelia Stevenson (wife), born about 1817 in Bilston, Staffordshire.

They had six children: Priscilla, Letitia, John, Ephraim, George, Albert

On the 1861 census, Sarah Edwards was living with them.

I hope this is enough info!

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Gemma

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post, so forgive me if I sound a little thick!

I have  a relative on the 1861 census and for the life of me I can't translate his occupation.  I have copied and pasted all the legible information from my Ancestry.com account, which I hope is enough to help you find the original document.  On the 1881 census, he is recorded as being a Gunmaker at the Royal Small Arms Factory in Edmonton, if this is any help!!
