Hi Rosie it certainly is the worst i have come across, i gave up looking on Ancestry years ago, i just decided to have another look. if i didn't have the original on Scotland's People i would never have found it.

I will report  it, don't know if it would get sorted, but will report it.

Colin

Hi Carole

The transcriber needs glasses, the original entry on Scotland's People is clearly readable as Ogilvie. that's that mystery solved.

He arrived in Queensland on the 30th Dec 1886 on the 'Duke of Sutherland' after his arrival i know nothing, have been looking for a long time for John, did he marry, have children, when did he die ?

Can anyone help.

Family History Beginners Board / TRENAWYN family, Gwinear
« on: Thursday 12 October 23 15:23 BST (UK)  »
Hello
I am interested in the Trenawyn family from Gwinear, my ancestor was Sydwell Trenawyn cr 20 march 1600 at Gwinear, daughter of Jo Trenawyn, she married William Carnsewe in 1629 at Gwinear.
Trying to trace her parents and siblings, there appear to be 8 children born between 1584 and 1603 but fathers are either Jo or Wm, the records are confusing, giving the father to some children either jo or wm, there is a William Trenwyn who marries Catheren in 1584 at Gwinear, cant find any John getting married in the same timeframe. have any of you come across this surname.

They may not have the time to search, but they could at least reply and say that, manners cost nothing. i have to say i expected a response from the Embassy, but they are as bad. out of all archives i have contacted over the years, this is the worst. i am affraid we may never find what we are looking for.
