Sussex Completed Lookup Requests / Re: Researching Lillian D known as (Doris) Mitchell & Henry Mitchell Completed

Hi Godmother,
OK, this should be number 3...I have similar information as to what is posted above. But have found getting more information on the Mitchell's difficult. I will get my wife to write up what she remembers about her Auntie Doris (well she calls her Do or Dol, I am not sure how you spell it). The Mitchell's (that is Albert and Elsie Denman) last natural born child as far as I know was Doris born in 1900. However, they "adopted" at least two other children and fostered a number of others. I put adopted in quotes because these children were adopted prior to the formal UK adoption process as I understand it. The two girl that were adopted were: Gladys Trixie Sparkes who was born in 1918 and Elsie Irene Blower who was born in 1923. My wife's mother was Irene.
Because of the age differences between these sisters I believe Doris helped raise Trixie and Irene as the parents aged. I think my wife will have visited the house in Crawley. But I do not have any more information but can ask my wife and other members of her family.
with best regards,
Mark
