Joseph Gray and Mary Ann Gordon are now my two possible parents to Eliza. I've got this from my Aunts records though just names I've no dates for BMD.

These two had to have married before 1860. Possibly a daughter Eliza Gray. She was born in Derriaghy in 1860. I've no information on parents BMD.

Does anyone know of any information on these two? I've looked up the census but they probably have died before 1901

Many Thanks
Lynette

Edward Cordner (farmer) and John H Sherrard (manufacturer) were granted probate for Andrew Hill (Ballyhenry farmer), my distant relative, who died in 1917. Andrew left £100 to his niece Mrs Elizabeth Sherrard formerly of Lisburn Road Belfast, and £10 to Andrew Sherrard son of Elizabeth Sherrard.
Any link?

Hi rittrock

I am still researching into the Sherrard Family it is a slow process but if I find a link I will let you known :)

From the top of my head I know that my Great Grandfather was James Sherrard (b 1881). Apparently there has been a James Sherrard (whether its first or second name) in every Generation for the last 6 years. There was a family farm somewhere up in the Coleraine area where my Great Grandfather is born. I've no idea on his other siblings or parents. Like I said my Grandfather died when my dad was 13 and my Grandmother lost contact with the Sherrard side. James Sherrard married a Eliza Chapman as my dad tells me (we are related to the Chapman's Farm fresh fruit and veg place in Portadown). James and his wife moved to belfast later on where my grandfather john sherrard was born in the house they lived in . He had 3 other siblings like i've said before.

It is very weak I know but we have been estranged from the sherrard side since my grandfather died back in 1969.

They might have been buried else where then. I've checked belfast burial records but no connection there. I am home in a few weeks so I might have to go investigating places myself in person.

I'm looking for information on Sherrard's that are buried in Mallusk. I was told years ago that my great grandad James sherrard (born 1881 possibly) was buried there. There is also a possiblity that his wife is there too - Eliza Sherrard (Chapman).

They had 4 children which are Roy Sherrard (unknown), Annie Sherrard (unknown), William Sherrard (buried in Portadown) and John Sherrard (buried in Omagh). They all lived in Belfast as children. My Grandad John Sherrard moved to Omagh in the later years.

If anyone knows of any information on this family it would be greatly appreciated. I've been trying to search my dad's family for ages and its not going very well. My dad's dad died when my father was 13 so we are unaware of the family history. I know I've some records back home in N.Ireland but I live in England now.

Thanks for the help

First of all sorry I just realised I put 1960 - 1961 I actually meant 1860 - 1861 lol whoops!

Yeah I've seen these records but I have no way in connecting them to Eliza Gray. I have a feeling this could be them it would be great if it were. I only know her mothers maiden name could be McConnell due to the fact that 2 of her own kids had second names as Gray and the other had McConnell. So I am assuming that's her mothers maiden name. Though there is no birth date up above for Eliza Gray.

Eliza Gray married a William John Martin. I found records but no names. roughly around 1889. Eliza was then known as Eliza Gray Martin. Which is on her burial records. I think I am going to have to see if I can get a Birth Certficate for her. Eliza Gray was born in Derriaghy in County Antrim.

I was wondering If Eliza Jane McConnell was her mother as my family always said Eliza was called Eliza Jane Gray but that could have been her mother not herself.

Thanks for getting back to me - My James died in 1907 in the Ballycastle area. He had 10 children listed on the earlier posting. If you can't access the earlier posting let me know & I'll send it again. I think his parents names from his marriage certificate were Thomas & Jane but the writing isn't clear.
Let me know if you think it is the same family. I haven't got any info about Jame's siblings unfortunately but I do know he came from Limavady
Thanks
Lynne

Ah sorry I seemed to miss them earlier comments. I don't think they are related though the James I am looking for, I do think he came from Limavady or Coleraine but moved to belfast. Such a shame I got a bit excited there. John Sherrard (my grandad) was born in 1916 in Belfast with his 2 brothers and 1 sister.

Thanks for the help though
