Hi Jeaner,
Just joined this forum as I was very intrigued to read of your dissertation. Looking at the dates of the posts it might be that you have finished it? I would be very interested to read it if that were possible. I have Irish ancestors on my mother's side who lived in Vaughan Street in 1901 and worked as a blastfurnace man. I found them 10 years earlier over in Cumberland, also working in the Ironworks there. They later emigrated to America. I would love to know some more about the history of Grangetown and would be fascinated to see any pictures of the place around the turn of the century.

I hope you still check this forum sometimes and will pick up this message. Would also be very interested to hear from anyone else that could offer some insights/photographs etc.

This is what you need to look at brilliant read about grangetown click on link enjoy

Hi Ronnie, thanks so much for this, much appreciated.  Unfortunately because of the parental controls we have on our router, I can't access Facebook so can't do what you suggest.  Never mind.  Mam grew up on Lanchester Road during the 40s and 50s so I was hoping to see something from that era ideally, but thank you for taking the time to help.
ive still not found any pics from 50s n 60s. but i wonder iff you can help me im after any pics of the bowling green that was in grangetown, behind st davids road on the ici field.

Hi folks

Bit of a long shot, but I'm looking for any photos of Lanchester Road in Grangetown and wondered if any of you lovely Rootschatters may have some in your photo albums, or know where I might find some?

I know there's a book about Grangetown (my parents have it) but from my recollection there is no photo of Lanchester Road - however please correct me if I'm wrong and I'll ask them to dig it out (could be in any number of boxes as they moved recently!) ive posted some of lanchester road used to live ther its on facebook prod to be a grangetowner iff you cant find them let me know and i will send them to you .

Many thanks for any help or suggestions.
