Staffordshire / Noah Onions - Help!
« on: Saturday 20 July 13 12:08 BST (UK)  »
Ive hit a brick wall with research relating to Noah Onions. Hoping someone can help me!

I have him on the 1841 & 1851 censuses in Tipton, Staffordshire. He was born between 1806 & 1811 according to the censuses but I cant find any birth records. I think though it was closer to 1806. He married Mary Ann Gough in Dudley, Staffordshire in 1827. They had 3 children John (b. 1830), Sarah Ann (B. 1838) and Naomi (b. 1842). He died in Staffordshire in 1880.
His son JOhn married Sarah Callow in 1852 in the parish of St MArtin in Birmingham. His daughter Naomi married William Whitehouse between 1856 & 1861 and at the 1871 census Noah was living with them/visiting them.
I would really love to find out anything on his parents or his wifes (mary Ann Gough) parents

Thanks

it gives her age as 44 which means she would have been born around 1820-21 rather than 1817. So I think that maybe this is a different Susannah? or she lied about her age :)

Ok ive just found a marriage banns dated 1st September 1857 for John Bamford Hale, Widower, and Susannah Thomas. His occupation is listed as a tailor not as a warder as in the other links posted. I thought they were in Australia before this date but maybe not. They were definitely in Australia by 1865 as she died here then. unfortunately on her death certificate her fathers and mothers name is unknown.

Im wondering if maybe John Bamford Hale was married twice... Hannah Green first and then Susannah Thomas? As there is a bit of a gap in the ages of the kids? And perhaps Susannah Hayward was the wrong person completely!

I had seen that on another website (I cant remember where now) I didn't realise Mitcheldean was that close? Then I think it could very well be him! I don't have his marriage certificate just the England & Wales FMB MArriage Index off ancestry.com.au It lists them as being married in the Sup-registrars district of Ross vol 26 page 251 if that helps?

England / John Bamford Hale b. 1819

Im looking for any information on John Bamford Hale B. 1819 in Ross, Herefordshire. He married Susannah Hayward (B.1817 in Kineton, warwickshire) in 1839 in Ross. They had 4 children Walter (b. 1840), Mathew (b. 1841), Hannah (B. 1848) & William (b. 1850). They lived in Westminster in 1851 Census and John Was a tailor. They emigrated to Western Australia sometime between 1851 & 1853. They had one more son Robert (my great great great grandfather) in 1853 in Australia. Bamford appears to be a family name as it has been used as a middle name for quite a few of Johns descendants.
Thanks in advance!
