COPENHAGEN - There once stood a number of houses called Copenhagen Place on this site, to the east of St Mary's Church. The 1871 Census shows no fewer than 27 houses bearing this name.
The name was given to commemorate Nelson's famous victory over the Danish fleet in 1801.
