Montgomeryshire / Ever heard of a place called Gomos?

I'm looking at 1901 census for the Lewis Family at 31 Avondale, Ystradyfodwg in the Rhondda Valley.
District 27, Ystradyfodwg, Glamorgan.

One William John Lewis is said to have been born in "Montgomery, Gomos" but I can't find such a place!

Wow thank you all this has been so helpful! I have downloaded the diary and will get through it.

-- Jim, I couldn't find that reference to him on 2nd Aug but will double check.
-- He is awarded the MM on 11th Aug but does that mean he's alive?
-- If he is still alive on and beyond 11th Aug, why are his other records unanimous that he is KIA between 31/7 and 4/8?

Thanks wiggy. Also in the mix is the fact that he is variously recorded as KIA and Died of Wounds. Again, sometimes in the same record such as the attached

He is also listed as KIA and also DOW, again sometimes on the same paper.

Hi all, please help, am I being stupid?
When researching this soldier, I consistently find two KIA dates. On the attached image, both appear on the same record. How do I interpret this?

In the war office daily list, he is reported wounded, then missing, then killed. I wonder if that might explain it?

Alas, this is my suspicion also.
Explains why I can't find my fella or any of his resident family. Presumably they are all together on a piece of paper somewhere!

See this one, which refers to what seems like the sale of property which may have included 174 in 1876. Perhaps that property was changed or removed before 1881?
But 174 appears on 1891  :-\

Unfortunately I have turned up nothing again. It seems most of the folk in these streets are highly mobile mariner types.

The fella I'm looking for is Antionio De Torres and his family, sometimes Anthony Tory. Wife Harriet. Easily enough found in 1871 and 1891 but nothing in 1881. I was looking up his usual haunts like Bute St.
