Hello, my name is Sue. I wonder if anyone out there can help me. Here is my story: In 1943, in Glympton, Oxfordshire, my Auntie gave birth to a baby at 17 years of age, out of wedlock. The local Vicar & Salvation Army lady dealt with the matter. The baby was adopted (we know the name & date of birth of the baby but we have been told that her name would have been changed at the point of adoption)). My Auntie was put in the Workhouse in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. I have been trying to trace the baby (my cousin), who would now be 70. The Salvation Army do not deal with adoptions & gave me the number of Norcap based in Wheatley, Oxfordshire (who I have now found out have sadly gone out of business, due to financial problems). So I have now registered with the General Register Office (Adoptions Section). Could anyone point me in any other directions? Thank you.
