It is Mackle not Mackie. I know that he married a Mary Elizabeth Hamilton in Crookstown Tyrone in Ireland in 1914 on 4th Nov so I don't think he was over here then. He is noted as the father of John Henry Mackle who was born on October 13th 1923 in Govan. I have tried to find his death anywhere in Scotland without success but of course he could have been out of the country altogether.

Tried that today and hit a very large brick wall. He is registered as deceased on his daughter's birth certificate - she was born in 1923 In October. He must have died that year. Just want to track his death record.

Thank you for this . I believe James Mason was born around 1832 and was married to an Elizabeth Ronald ( who was born about 1830). The marriage I believe took place in Paisley on 7 April 1857. He seems to have died before 1884 as he is noted as deceased on the marriage certificate of his son , another James Mason(born around 1859 in England) who married a Clara Coulthurst in Paisley on 20 October 1884. I have tried to locate James and Elizabeth with their son James ( who was born about 1859 in England )without success on the census in England and Scotland. The only other information I have is that James Mason who married Elizabeth Ronald  was a ship engineer with the Board of the ships of the Canadian Line (Merchant Service).I wondered if he might have been at sea when the census took place in 1861 and 1871.
