Hi Nannette,

Your address didn't come through - it was removed!  Can you interpret this (*)

That aside, I am happy to pass my side of the family tree to you, once I get an electronic version sorted!

The only Duror I know of is on the west coast of Scotland near Glencoe / Loch Linhe and the only reference I know of it is a ghost tale called the Maid of Glen Duror!  I'm sure it'll be online somewhere!  ;-)

Have you read any of Angus MacVicar's books?  I have a pile here and it makes mention of the Manse of St Blann's, Southend, which is where I understand he grew up.  This is about 120 miles south of Duror.  There are some photos of the family therein; if you are interested, I can try to scan them and send them over to you!

Kind regards,

Deirdre

In fact, my grandfather's parents were Roderick MacAulay and Mary McVicar; Roderick's brother Alex went to Vancouver and married K.M. MacDonald.  They had three children: Mary, John and Ina.

I guess they are on the MacAulay side, rather than MacVicar, so perhaps it's not what you are interested in, but just thought I'd add it into the mix!  :-)

Hi Nannetel,

Did you ever get a satisfactory response to this?

Angus McVicar (born 1908, author, etc) was my Grandfather's cousin (Angus MacAulay from North Uist / Fortingall) and I know he spent time (in his "youth!" and for later visits) in Canada visiting relatives, so if you need more information, I could probably ask around!

I know its an old post, so maybe you've got it all sorted....if so, I'd be keen to see if we connect!!  :-)
