dear cath
eureka! you have found the great granddaughter of philip fogarty and Jane parkinson. Yes the couple came to Liverpool from Tipperary and lived in Dublin Street. Philip worked on the docks and apparently rescued a chap who had fallen in the Mersey unfortunately he died of pneumonia leaving Jane a young widow. I have started our family tree and have quite a bit of information about them. Jane had a brother John who was an alderman. Did you know they were married when she was 12 years old I found their marriage certificate in the Picton library. You will find them on the 1901 census. They had a daughter Maggie who died in 1977 she was my grandmother. We are quite a big family and there are still some grandchildren of Philip and Jane still alive. I am so excited to find your message on roots - but who are you?
My name is also Kath and lots of the family still live on Merseyside. One day I am going to Tipperary to try to find the farm - my uncle Bob went back but unfortunately he died a few years ago so I can't get much information except it was thurles, clonmell.
Hope you get this message and can reply to me with some info.
