I have been researching Kerridges for many years and have some more information on John and Elizabeth, as well as John's first wife, Ann, plus Elizabeth's siblings if of interest.  Happy to share whatever I have - there is as yet no link with my line, so of more use to you than me!!

On the marriage of Rebecca to John MOORE did you notice that the witnesses:  Samuel ROW & William KERRIDGE - Samuel was probably husband of Sarah KERRIDGE who married Samuel (a fermer of Eyke) at Kesgrave 8 May 1778 and the witnesses to that marriage were William and Rebecca KERRIDGE

Following up on the Kesgrave link
Marriage 09 Dec 1766 of a William KERRIDGE and Eliz WHYMAN
Burial 26 Jul 1780 of William KERRIDGE

Do you not think it strange that William and Rebecca had children 1754-1761 at 1-2 year intervals and then Henry G was bp 1772, 11 years after Rebecca?  It may be a baptism some year after birth of course, or where there other children bp elsewhere?

William bp 1754 son of William and Mary (probably nee PITT) - do you have a burial date for him?

William's first wife, Mary, may be Mary PITT who married a William KERRIDGE at Ipswich St Peter on 31 Jul 1743 (a date which then suits your comment re no children in settlement of 1744).

Interested in your comment re Henry G's aunt being Sarah KERRIDGE who married Henry GALLANT - how do you know she was his aunt?

Note that there was a William Kerridge MULLINGER bp at Barking Sty Mary 28 Jul 1754, son of Rebecca MULLINGER

Got a bit more to look at but thought would get these bits off

William CARRIAGE marriage c1825 – how about William marrying Mary SHERWOOD 24 Oct 1824 at Cold Norton.  Cold Norton is not far from Althorne or Steeple

I looked at this family some years ago and what you have found has significantly added to what I had.   The research was made difficult by several Joseph’s and with at least two of them marrying more than once, plus several Daniels.  My thoughts were as follows

Daniel KERRIDGE/CARRIAGE married Sarah BROWN 1752 at Maldon.  They had at least 2 children
1)   Joseph (buried 1833 age 83) who married firstly Judith BRIDGES in 1772 Mayland, & had Sarah (bp 1773, poss bur 1787 Steeple), Joseph (bp1778, died young?).  Judith died & was buried 1782 at Steeple.

Joseph then married Mary WOOD in 1782 & had a Joseph (bp 1783 Steeple), Daniel (bp 1786); William (bur 1789); possibly Sarah (bur 1790 Steeple) and Mary (bp 1790).  Of these children; Joseph (1783) see next; Daniel seems to have been alive in 1815 and “of Grays” and was perhaps buried 1840; and Mary seems to have married Thomas GARDNER in 1804 in Purleigh.  Mary nee WOOD was buried 1790 at Steeple.

I had not spotted the third marriage of Joseph following death of Mary nee WOOD, to Mary SHED.  So thanks for that, and the tie into the children at Barling

2)   Daniel (bc 1759, bur 1811? Purleigh) married 1781 at Steeple to Mary HARVEY – no children found, and then seems to have married again in 1783 to Mary COOK.  Again no children found.
After Daniel’s death, Mary COOK married William RAYMENT.

So, Joseph bp 1783 married firstly Sarah RABBETS at Norwich St Sepulchre (see settlement note below) and had 3 or 4 children - Joseph (bc 1801 Norwich & married Mary Ann FULLER),
William (probably same as married Mary SHERWOOD), Sarah (who married Thomas BRADFORD).  I have not found the death of Sarah nee RABBETS, so am not sure if a 4th child Elizabeth, bc 1806 and bp 1813 was legitimate or not.  Joseph married secondly at Steeple in 1810 to Sarah MATTHEWS, a widow; and I have 7 children for them.

William and Mary SHERWOOD:  I have a note re a Settlement examination of 1805 for Lt Wakering as follows which may throw some light on William’s parentage and also help with the relationships:  Joseph CARRAGE, Wakering 1805 Jan 29, lab 27 born Steeple, married 5 years ago at St Sepulchre Norwich, 3 children Joseph 5, William 2, Sarah 4m.  10 years ago served Elisha LEWIN of Purleigh, 1 year in husbandry at £7 (X mark of Joseph CARRIAGE)

William and Mary appear to have had the following children – note as well as being in the 1841 census of Althorne, William was in 1851 Canewdon and 1861 Eastwood.
1)   Mary Ann, bp 9 Oct 1825 at Purleigh appears to have been unmarried.  Was a pauper in 1861+71.
2)   William, born c1831 Purleigh? – nothing more known after 1841
3)   John born c1833? Purleigh, married in the 1850'S?to a Mary Anne (bc1834 Benfleet) and died in 1912 in Rochford RD.  Had children:  Marian, Rachel, Frederick, John, Mary Anne, Ada, & Arthur.  John was noted as a lab or ag lab in 1861-1881 censuses.  In 1911 he was with his daughter, Ada and her family

Hope this helps or more likely confuses the situation more!  :)

Emma Letitia K probably married in 1876 Hackney Registration District to Horace Vincent HARDESTY.  They were in 1881 census of Islington (RG11/0055; Folio: 31; Page: 1) at 5 Rutland Rd…
Horace Hardesty   Hd M 39   Commercial Traveller      St John’s Wood
Emma Letitia Hardesty Wf M 32               Islington
Constance L. Hardesty Dau    4               Islington
Elisabeth Symonds    Serv U   28   GeneralServant      Marylebone

I have not found all the family in 1891, but Constance (the L was for Letitia) and what appears to be a sister, Ethel May, are aged 14 and 9, respectively and are pupils ata school in Kirkley, Suffolk (nr Lowestoft).  In 1901 the family are back in one place in Chiswick, no more children – however Horace’s birthplace is now Norwich, not St John’s Wood.  In 1911, Emma May is still with her parents, who now live at 89 Uxbridge Road, Ealing.  Horace was a manufacturer’s agent for preserves and confectionary, & were living in an 11-roomed house.    So there was a connection with preserves, and if you dig deeper you may find the company for whom he was working - might be Hartleys?  Would be difficult to track that down as he was an agent and could have been working at some distance from the manufacturing sites

I believe that Catherine was nee BOND, married Henry K in 1790 at London St Clement Dane, had possibly 12 children and then died in 1829.  Henry married secondly to Lucy POWELL a widow, and seems to have had 2 further children with her.  Henry was a ham dealer from at leats 1816-1829 and was a ward beadle for St Gregory by St Paul in 1833.  He died in 1839.  I have nothing on Henry's origins though

You will find Donald McD buried in Abney Park Cemetery - check it out on the internet - there is a free index available and there are 14 Kerridge's (inc his wife, Letitia) buried there

Hi there
James was noted as a tailor and draper also in articles in the Ipswich Journal in 1801 and 1816, so think can rule him out.  I do have a number of millers in my Kerridge database, either K's themselves or spouses.  Happy to share if likely to be of interest

BTW James married again later the same year as Joanna died, to a Sarah Kerridge, not sure if she was a relative or not

Actually this is the only Eliza Susannah I have in my files.  Sorry, can't help any more with her.  I note  on Sophia's marriage that her name is definitely written as Snell

I looked forward at the marriages after Sophia's up to and including 1840, in case Eliza S had witnessed other marriages.  She hadn't but Henry had ..

29 May 1831: Henry ALLAWY, otp, bach, & Mary SYMONDS, otp, spin, by banns, both signed.  Witnesses: Henry KERRIDGE & Elizabeth Johnson HUMBLE

Only one he witnessed
