Lovely to hear back from you Gwenan. Peter lives in Sydney, but we are in touch regularly. I will contact him soon and see what recollections he has, and also check that he is happy for me to post the photos - hopefully I’ll have some information in the next week or so.

Best wishes
Caroline

Hello Gwenan

In 2021 I posted that my uncle, Peter Vile, was at Aston Hall 1946-1949. He has happy memories of being there. Back in 2021 he was very interested when I told him I had found your original post on this thread, and he was looking forward to sharing his memories (via me), but sadly no one responded to my post. I am sure he would still be keen to share what he remembers. I do have a few photos from his time there, and would be happy to post them if you or anyone else is interested.

Regards
Caroline Cantor

My uncle, Peter Vile, was a patient at Aston Hall from 1946 to 1949, and then went back regularly for further treatment and follow ups. Funnily enough he now lives in Sydney, as Michael Roberts does! He has lots of happy memories from his time there and hopes to put down some of his memories in writing for me to post here at some point in the future. I also have some photos of him there which I will dig out and try to post here.
Best wishes

The Lighter Side / Re: What's the oddest name you've found?
« on: Sunday 29 October 17 16:00 GMT (UK)  »
A day or two ago I found a Salmon Mash Beart in a census return; the birth registration also gives that as his actual name, so not a mistranscription!

Salmon Mash Beart was my great great uncle. As far as I can tell his two first names were family surnames from previous generations.... a bit unfortunate that he got landed with both when his siblings were given more ordinary names such as Frederick, Charles, Oscar and Herbert! Salmon, I believe, was known as Sam - probably a wise decision! Would be very happy to make contact with anyone out there researching the Beart family.
