Both of the John Gleesons you have listed went by the nickname '''Fira''.
Nicknames were commonly adopted amongst the Gleeson (and other families,. e.g. Ryan) in North Tipperary parishes, such as Silvermines. See also  'Using nicknames in Irish research' (2012), ''Descent'' (Society of Australian Genealogists journal), Vol. 42. Pt 3. September 2012.

Hello
To the best of my knowledge that Fr Gleeson was not a native of Silvermines.

Although Carroll and Carolan have quite separate genealogical orgins, it might be worth mentioning that tracditionally the spelling of the latter was O'CARROLAN - this spelling can still be seen in some very old cemeteries on the Cavan/Meath border, including a beautiful tombstone (now laying flat) of a CARROLAN chieftian and the wife.

When my ancestor came (involuntarily) to the penal colony of NSW in 1820, the British authorities listed him as CARROLL, when his name was clearly CAR(R)OLAN.

Interesting that they went to Gulgong. Many Silvermines migrants (e.g. Gleeson, O'Brien) went to Mudgee. The village of Cooyal was called 'Little Tipperary''.

Hello

Do you have baptismal certificate? If so, who were the godparents - this is a useful way of narrowing down the different Ryan families in Silvermines.

I think it may be O'Donnell? I don;t recall OÇonnell in Silvermines parish

Hello. Very interested to read that about some Gleesons. I was aware that some were killed or committed sucide after 1641 Silvermines' rebellion, but had not heard that some families left the parish. Would welcome any further information. Damian Gleeson, Sydney, Australia
