Hi Fiona, happy to have a chat. My Grandad Richard Bellamy wrote a book all about the Bellamys, so I have lots of information.

The Common Room / Are you a Bellamy or a descendant of Dr George Bellamy?
« on: Sunday 12 March 17 09:22 GMT (UK)  »
Are you descended from Dr George Bellamy, who served under Nelson at the battle of the Nile? If so you may be interested in a book that I am looking to get privately printed.
The book was written by my Grandfather in the late 70s, early 80s. He spent 10 years researching the Bellamy's. The book goes back to the 1400s and traces different lines of the Bellamy's from Uxenden to Dorset, Brazil and beyond.
I am planning on getting enough books published for family members, but wanted to see if anyone else would like to buy a copy. The cost will be about £50 for a large hard backed book with over 30 colour pictures of related family heirlooms (Dr George's uniform, portraits etc). The cost per book may come down if we print more than just the current planned 25 copies.

If you would like more details, please contact me. I am planning on instructing the publishers in the next few weeks, so if you are interested please let me know as soon as possible.

Hi, so we are definitely related :) my family also have a large portrait of John Cremer (1700 - 1774) known as Ramblin' Jack and his handwritten diary of his time at sea, which has also been published. I have the paintings of John Cremer Bellamy and his wife Theodora Mariana de Castro, daughter of Dr Miguel de Castro.

Not sure if I can help but my Grandad was a Bellamy and we have the oil painting of Dr George Somers and his uniform (well my brother has his full uniform) I have one of his hats. I also have one of his hand written books of surgical notes. I am sorry to say I do not know the connection between Somers and Bellamy, but my Grandad spent his life researching his family history and my brother has a copy of the family tree going back to Dr George. My Grandad also wrote a book about his family, but it didn't get published, I think my brother still has the hand written manuscript, I think there is even mention of the pirate Sam Bellamy. I will get my brother to give me more details and update you.
