Have you found any of your Spillane's that came to New York?  I have just started researching my Spillane's, and don't know where they came from originally.  I only know they were in Dublin around 1910, before some of them came to NY.

Bethan,

I can't take the credit for teh two possibilites mentioned previously - they were sent to you by someone else.  But, as I have searched ships passenger lists, I found something to share with you.  Not a George Davies, but some members of a Davies family who emigrated in 1887 from Wales - so perhaps there is some connection.  This is what I found:
**********************************************
Steamship Lord Clive
Passenger List of Steamship Lord Clive from Liverpool Arrived July 5th 1887 in the Port of Philadelphia

Transcriber's Family passengers #93-101 Davies
This manifest was generously donated by Nancy Watson.  Her great grandmother on the list is Jeanette Davies age 11 years, although Nancy knows she was 13 years old at the time she came to this country.
While the manifest indicates that her Davies ancestors were from
England, they were really from Merthyr Tydfil, Wales.  If you have a connection to this family, please contact Nancy. (hughw1@nauticom.net)

I will continue the search.

Catherine,
I've just started researching my Spillane family in Ireland, and know very little before my grandfather Dominick's arrival in New York in 1910.  His brother Jeremiah (possibly Jerome) was already here I believe.  The Ellis Island record for Dominick's trip states that he left his mother (Kate Ford Spillane) on Stafford Street in Dublin.  No mention of their father, Jeremiah.  I thought maybe there was a census record from 1910 that might shed some light on the family.  Can you help?
Thanks in advance for any help!

Vicki,

Do you know the name of Joseph's wife?

I found one Joseph Peterson in the 1810 census, living in NY County, and one on the 1820 census living in Washington Township, Sullivan County, NY.  The 1820 census indicates that the household consisted of  a male under the age of 14, a male 26-45 and a female 14-26 (wife & son?)
I'd be happy to e-mail you a copy of the image if you want.
