Northamptonshire / Military Board School, Northampton
« on: Thursday 02 May 24 09:52 BST (UK)  »
I am researching Mary Ann Sheppard born in Bucks in 1852 moved to Kingsthorpe in the 1860's. I can find no other information about her after 1871 where she is visiting family in Hull. I've hit a brick wall with the lady but I have a half clue in a cutting from the Northampton Mercury of 1884 which says “The Military Board School managers recommended that the salary of the caretaker be increased to 10s a week and that Mary Ann Sheppard be appointed monitress at a salary of 3s a week.”

Can anyone help in identifying the school? Or tracking my elusive Mary Ann at all?

Buckinghamshire Lookup Requests / Re: Stony Stratford .... Sheppard

Hi Peter
Thank you for doing that ! Sorry didn't say parents were John and Mary. So this looks like another family who i came across in another context. My lot are from Beachampton but Wm was reckoned to have been born at Deansanger and Henry at Stony Stratford. According to census info anyway. Their other siblings were born at Beachampton.

Anyway another William Sheppard sort of clears up an outstanding matter i had. There was a court case in 1830 involving William son of John and I wondered if he was mine. But I think it is the one you have found instead. So thank you for your help which has been useful. If you come across my Wm anytime I would be very grateful.

Regards

Sue

I would be grateful if anyone could help me with birth of Henry and William Sheppard born between 1802 and 1810.  Possibly at Stony Stratford or thereabouts.  They are of a Beachampton family but not born there apparently

Thanks in anticipation

Lincolnshire / Re: Surfleet/Moulton - Savage

Michael Lenton was a farmer in Surfleet - he was the first husband of my g-g-grandmother.  Don't think the Will would be of tremendous interest to you other than John Savage signed as witness.

I noticed that in the Lincs archives website there is a document available - "Two letters concerning a schoolmaster "  which seem to be about John Savage.  I guess you know about that.

Kind regards - Sue

PS - The Will was written in December 1834

Hi Beckey
You might like to know that Jno Savage (presumably your Surfleet schoolmaster John Savage) witnessed the Will of Michael Lenton who was from  Surfleet.  I am trying to get more details about Michael Lenton.

The Will is available to see at Lincs Archives in Lincoln (their website Lincs to the Past is excellent).

Hi - just came across your question.  I have the PR's and can see no George Lovell for 1792 but there is a George Lovell recorded born in 1777 - 14 March 1777 son of George and Mary Lovell.  Is this your man ?

Kind regards

Sue
