Skyjaded:

The two people below you have solved the problem most likely. This has given me much more detail now. I do have quite a bit of stuff on Williams parents and siblings if you need any?

Thank you for those extremely helpful comments!!

We do have Drapers as relatives around that time and as you know it was common for 3-4  groups to marry each other.
'Hartfree' sounds very much like 'Harpey' so it could well have been written down incorrectly on death certs of Thomas Simmons in 1891.
It also states he came to NSW 54 years ago meaning it would have been around 1837 so 1841 is very close which could make it correct as well. It did say he was born around 1835 so 2 years off could also be fine. However his marriage cert said he was 22 yrs old in 1860 thus making the ship of 1841 correct and his age of 3 yrs old correct.!! He was then 54 yrs old at his death making the death cert incorrect.
It would explain why she and the father Thomas Simmons 'disappeared' with one dead in England and Catherine re-marrying.
She is buried in the same section in O'Connell cemetery that all my relatives are.
It sure sounds like it is her but Ill try to get some death certs etc and see if can link and be certain.
Either way she was not a woman you would want to marry it sounds..lol
All in all there are far too many 'coincidences' for your evidence not to be correct. Thomas lived in Campbells River/Macquarie Plains etc
Thanks for all your work people!!!. Amazing.

Hi Alison,

Thanks for your message.

I was only ever able to find out details back to Thomas O'Neil (1777-1820) who married Rachael Smith in 1800 at St Wilfred Chapel Prescott.
I do have all the details of their children that you mentioned however I feel there may have been another Thomas they had from the records I see.
Thomas was born in 1807 and died 1808. His parents were Thomas and Rachael and from Prescott. Strongly seems it was the same couple. The trouble is so many people had the same names back then.
I do know evyerthing else about John O'Neil 1812-1876 after he came to Australia etc. I dont think that is relevant to yourself though as it seems your lineage broke away from mine with Michael and Ann O'Neil.? Did you need any info on the children of Thomas O'Neil and Rachael Smith?
John O'Neil was sentenced to 7 years for stealing fowls in 1831. He was a shepherd/labourer.
I noticed you mentioned the O'Neils were catholic and records of them are in the Portico Catholic church however I am not sure they are.
My relative who came here was church of england and the Portico church was not built until 1790.
All the marriages etc I found of the families were from the St Wilfreds Church in Farnworth (which is prescot really) and they are Church of England.
Michael O'Neil may have been catholic if his wife Ann was Church of England. I have found that often the children followed the mother for religion.

Sussex / TYSEHURST FAMILY OF DALLINGTON, EAST SUSSEX
« on: Friday 12 April 13 17:28 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone has done any research on this family at all? Have seen plenty of family trees but I think they are incorrect in linking the Ticehurst/Tysehurst family from Dallington with the fmaily fro Ashburnham. Specially a John Tysehurst (born 1655) whom others are linking to an Abraham Tysehurst from Ashburnham.  However, I found a John who was born in Dallington in 1654 and his fathers name is listed as George.  This john married Hannah Bennet in 1684.
My question is did his father, George come from dallington or Ashburnham. I cant seem to find anything about one at all. I did find that the John from dallington had siblings called mary and Elizabeth.
There are lots of trees going around with the Ashburnham Tysehursts and wills they left but the names do not much up to those who were in Dallington. Has anyone else found info on this family?
Thanks for any help. David

Nottinghamshire / Re: Online Parish rcords

Hi,

Thanks for the info . Unfortunately those parishes are not ones I can use at the moment. However I did find a "west midlands" one which contains those I needed (only back to 1700 though). Still trying to find a Nottingham one. Have used free reg site which has a few of the ones I need also.

Does anyone know where you can see enlistment records for soldiers around 1720 ? Trying to find out exactly when John Wood joined up etc.

Thanks very much.

Thanks Stephen.
The only serving O'Neil that I know of was John O'Neil who went to Australia around 1825 and stayed.

Any O'Neils that stayed in Prescot I dont have much idea about them at all.:)

Am just trying to find out about the parents of Thomas and Rachael but not sure if can link them to those married and born in the area as their marriage details dont seem to include the parents names. Any ideas anyone?:)
