Hello Gilbert! How lovely to welcome a new Family Member! I believe we are 2nd Cousins once removed as my GGrandmother, Florence was William Percsys Sister.
I do know quite a bit about the Family as I've been researching our Tree for about 3 Years.
William Percy (known as Percy?) was born in 1882 and Baptised 12/03/1882 when their address was 4  Beswick Rd, Walthamstow . I think you've been told Cornwall rather than Cornhill?
There were 4 Children - my GGrandmother, Florence was the eldest born 1881 and 2 younger Siblings, Walter born 1884, and Theresa born 1886.
I have them on the 1891 Census living at Elmsdale Rd, Walthamstow and on the 1901 at 3 The Pavement, George Lane, Woodford where their Mother, Mary Jane was working as The Manageress of a Cigar Business which I believe was owned by Wiliams Brother, John Alexander.
I think William/Percy emigrated to Vancouver c1911, initially on his own. I don't know what made him go to Canada?
I have Grahame born 1909 in Scotland and your Dad, Gilbert born 1912 in Vancouver?  Did Grahame have Children?
I have found some records of their life in Canada using my Ancestry subscription.
My Mum, Doreen (Florence's Grandaughter) was born in 1929 so is 85 now (with memory problems) so never met William - but it was her that told me about Williams emigration and his 2 Boys, Gilbert and Grahame.
Via this Site I found another relative, Nigel Rixon, who is Theresa's GGrandson. I shall email him and tell him about you! My email address is *
There's probably a lot more information that we can swap.
I've added you to the Family Tree now :)
Happy New Year!
Diane x

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Re: Robert Valentine Walker
« on: Sunday 28 December 14 10:43 GMT (UK)  »
Have finally had a result (with the help of a professional researcher)
It transpires that my Grandfather was NOT born Robert Valentine Walker in 1898, but Valentine Henry Down in 1897, eldest of Richard Gardner Downs (13+) Children. I now have his Birth Certificate and 1901 Census entry where they were already using an assumed name of 'BRITTON'. Unfortunately, no sighting of him, or Richard Gardner Down on 1911 Census, despite extensive research. Also no Birth or Census info for his half Sister, Winifred Ethel Clements so possibly not her Birth name.
Still, happy with what I've found out😀

Hello, while researching my Grandfather, Robert Walker b1898, I have found an old family photo which is dated 16/03/1916 and appears to include him in a group Shot entitled '19th General Hospital, Chatby, Alexandria'. It looks like there are Nurses in the Photo too. As a novice, could anyone tell me who he might have been serving with or what he was doing there please? I was told that he was in the Royal Artillery during WW1. Thanks

Still no further forward with finding Birth record for my Grandfather, Robert (Valentine?) Walker or solving the mystery of his Father(?) Richard Gardner Down aka Sydney or John Sewell;Sydney Walker, or who his Mother was.
