Thank you both very much HarryW and Victor,
for taking time to look in your records for the burial & marriage of Richard JUDGE and Elizabeth---? in and around the EWELME area. I do appreciate your help.
I have also been in contact with OFHS who have also been very helpful in their search but alas no marriage for a Richard JUDGE and Elizabeth----? anywhere near EWELME within at least 33 years of 1774. So it's possible that they were never married but still had their children baptised in EWELME in 1774,1776&1778. However I still need to locate this RICHARD JUDGE who I should imagine was born around 1750/55 around this area of Oxfordshire. P U

Oxfordshire / Richard JUDGE died 1778 Ewelme
« on: Thursday 20 June 13 14:43 BST (UK)  »
My 5x Gt Grandfather Richard JUDGE died 9th April 1778 at Ewelme Oxfordshire, not sure how old.
He was married to Elizabeth _____ ? But after many years of searching I cannot find this marriage.
They had I believe, 3 sons, John bap 1774, Richard bap 1776 (my 4x Gt Grandfather) and Thomas bap 1778 all at Ewelme. After Richard's death in 1778, I found extracts from the Overseers Disbursments Ewelme (payments to the poor) showing his widow Elizabeth receiving payments from the parish. Elizabeth remarried in 1788 to John EATON.
I should be most grateful for any ideas in finding either the marriage of Richard JUDGE and Elizabeth _? or his birth and parents.
 Thanks. P U

Thanks for your comments Maggie and Treetotal, but I am not sure where that takes Caron and I
with differing opinions as to who the man is.
I can confirm without question that my two photos (1&2) are of my Gt Grandfather George Judge b 1853.These were given to me by his daughter, my Nan.I think the photos were taken about 10 to 12 years apart. Then when I saw Carons two pictures (3&4) recently on the Horse Artillery Topic,
I thought WoW! thats my Gt Granddad! But how did they (3&4) get into someone else's photo album?
My thoughts on this and its only a guess. Did Mary Ann Gould, who lived in Southwark, George's girlfriend/fiance/wife to be,(my Gt Grandmother) give these photos to one of her brothers or sisters, which over the next 100 years or so eventually found their way to Caron? I guess I'd better start reseaching!
Thanks  P U

Thank you everyone who has replied, for your help so far.
Can I ask you please, if you would kindly look at now the four separate images at the same time together on replies 4 & 5 (from Caron and myself, P U) to see if you think, it is at all possible that they are all of the same person,as I believe they are.
Thanks.

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Compare photos to see if its the same man

I am attaching two head and shoulders photographs and Caron (another member) will also be posting two other similar photos.  Could someone look and compare all four photographs at the same time to see if it is possible that they are all of the same person.  Your expertise and advise would be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks.  PU

Caron

Thank you so much for agreeing to do this, I really do appreciate it.

As I am a new boy I am not too sure what to do next, so do you think it might be best if I posted my two cut and pasted head and shoulders photos here, for you then to add yours, and then for you to send on to the photographic section, together with our question "are these the same man?"
Do you think that's OK, or do you wish to do it any other way?
Best wishes
Eric

Hi Caron
This is a very interesting and intriguing puzzle. I can see that we agree to differ about these photographs.
Can I make a suggestion? I have read all through the messages and replies concerning
The Royal Horse Artillery and your inquiries about about your un-named photographs. As I have a second photograph of my George JUDGE in the 1880s, why don't we as Km1971 suggested previously (reply27) cut and paste the faces of your two photographs (that I think are George JUDGE) and my two that I know are George JUDGE and send them onto the Photographic Section. The answer might just turn out to be an interesting and exciting family history challenge to us both!

Regards Eric
