Thank you Ady for that advice.  I will check out the Examiner and the book listed.

Would like to know if anyone out there has a photograph of 26005 Corporal Timothy Singleton, 7 Battalion, Royal Irish Regiment, who was KIA during the battle for Courtrai on 14 October 1918.  I would be most grateful.  I have arranged to visit his grave in the near future and a photo of him would be of great satisfaction to my family who lived across the road from his late widow for many years.

Thank you for your reply.  I am new to this game but having known Annie Stubbs as a teenager, I just had to give my two pence halfpenny worth.  Please do eliminate my mother's name from the text of mine - shows you, I am uneducated in the technological facilities.  I forgot to mention that Annie must have been in her 80's when I knew her, but this didn't restrict her great energy and involvement in everything that was going on around her.  Best regards.

Hi All, I lived in No.10 Bridewell Lane from 1945(when I was nearly 3) to 1961.  Our living quarters was over a forge and the window of the kitchen overlooked Annie's residence, which was just beyond the Clock House Mineral Water factory and Thaedy Lyne's forge was on the other side of Annie's house. She was a larger than life character, good humoured, energetic and always busy with something or other.  When I was about 14 she would ask for help in plucking the turkeys and Geese in her kitchen for Christmas.  I didn't like plucking geese but so did Annie.  When my mother, Nora (Barrett) Dodd died in 1994, we had a trip down memory lane in trying to remember all those who lived in Bridewell Lane.  There was no hesitation in remembering Annie, she was a real character who contributed greatly to our little community in Bridewell Lane.  We didn't know anything about her family and at my age I probably was not too interested in that aspect.  Loved reading your emails.
