KTwigg,

I think that you and my wife are second cousins, twice removed.  It's not that far a 'distance.'

Thank you for contacting Amy. We hope to hear from her.

We live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  And you?

KTwigg,

We did get to Crossmolina in early June 2013 where we met with Robert Marsh, who lives on Erris Street in Crossmolina.  Robert had a sister Mary who is deceased.  I believe his great-grandfather was also named Robert Marsh who would have been Catherine and Margret's brother.  In an effort to help you piece this together, I do know that Catherine's father's name was John Marsh.  I hope this helps.

I'm interested in learning more about the McHale line from Amy J if she would be willing to connect on this site.  Thank you.

Diski,
Thank you for the followup.  Your information is quite helpful and would appear to validate the relationship between William and Walter in the mid-1800's.  I had hoped to see something about William and Mary Ellen Jennings, but...
We plan to be in Crossmolina in late May and will try to connect with the Marsh side of the family.  Perhaps they can shed more light on our roots.
If I can ever be of assistance (not sure how) please let me know.  Thank you again.

My wife's ancestors are McHales from Crossmolina.  We were able to get records from the Mayo North Heritage Centre that verified information we had about her family.  The earliest accurate information showed William McHale of Crossmolina married Catherine (Mash) Marsh, also of Crossmolina, on February 12, 1865 in Crossmolina.  They had 8 children - John, Walter, Joseph, Bridget, Peter, George, Michael and William.  Michael is my wife's grandfather who immigrated to Kingston, PA where he married Kathryn Muldowney.

We are trying to verify who William McHale's parents were in Crossmolina.  My father-in-law always believed that William's parents were William McHale and Mary Ellen Jennings.  But the Heritage Centre records showed that William's father was Walter McHale (no record of his mother.)  We are trying to determine if William and Walter might have been brothers.  Any help you can provide would be appreciated.
