The one thing that might help is if there are any relatives of the son born  in 1882, William but may as people have said taken his late brothers name.

This could make sense  with both Emily and Norah (laura) marrying navy men in Devonport.

Thanks to you all. i have been looking through the links you have all sent, Just to follow up on the info I already have.
I have the 1911 census for Emily, and is in Devonport with her children  Alice and Charles.
I have her husband Charles in the 1901 and 1911 censuses on  board navy Vessels.
Her sister  Nora is also in Devonport in the 1911 census, she had married a Francis Nichols in 1910 and he was actually also in the navy also shown on 1901 and 1911 censuses, in fact he was on the same vessel as charles in 1901, so it could be that Charles Introduced Francis to his wife,s sister, but we will never know that fact.
The wierd thing is that on the 1911 census Nora has her place of birth as Town, Northampton ?
on the 1911 census for Emily she does show her birthplace as Hull, which does make sense as her husband Charles was born in Driffield only 20 miles away.

Hi,
Emily Jane Colvill, was my great Grandmother, born In Hull in 1874 (where I am from), you obviously have the copy of the Marriage certificate as I do as well, but am also having no luck going back in time to nd more details of her father (john) and mother unknown.
I do have details of her on the 1911 census in Devonport, but at some stage after 1911 she did move back to Hull, with their children Alice (my grandma)  and Charles, both now deceased as well.

Nora was 85 when she died in 1985,So she was younger than Emily who was 96 when she died also in 1970. her middle name was grace, she had no children though.

Emily Jane Colvill was my Great Grandmother, born 1874 in Hull, she married Charles harvey of Driffield East Yorkshire (his Family Moved ther from essex) in Devonport in 1899, I note a old post from a SUEH2 in 2007 was also looking for information on Emily, just wondered if she is still looking for info, as  I am also trying to find details of her parents, as on Emily and Charles Marriage certificate only her father's name is shown,John Colvill.
Emily had a sister Nora who lived in Torquay until she died in 1970.
Emily died in 1970 as well in Hull, she had two children Alice (my Grandma) and Charles, her husband Charles died in 1928.

If anyone else can help me in my search into Emily's family it would be of immense help, or tracing relatives I did not know I had.
