Huntingdonshire Lookup Requests / Re: bassford, reachelous family
« on: Friday 17 May 13 12:03 BST (UK)  »
Thanks for your reply David jp but can't find a link.
Also thank you Bedfordshire boy, We (my wife and I) thought we had some dodgy dates, and what you wrote seems to confirm this! Having input the information you gave us, the picture seems a lot clearer and makes much more sense. I am particularly interested in my Great Grandfather Robert Bassford, b Dec 1866 in Fen Drayton. he was the youngest son of William Bassford (b 3 march 1879
in Fen Drayton) and his wife Elizabeth nee Butcher. The 1881 census shows him living in Fen Drayton with his Mother, father and elder brother Joseph and has him as being 15 yrs. old and a farm labourer. The next record we can find is of him marrying Margaret Emily Bowden in Dec 1887 in Saddleworth W York's, where the majority of my family hail from. We would like to establish when Robert moved away from Huntingshire area, whether he moved on his own or as a family "en masse" and what might have been the motive for such a drastic departure. Robert and Margaret  went on to have 5 daughters and on son. The oldest child was Elizabeth Hannah (b Q1 1888 in Saddleworth) and she was my Grandmother. Thank you again Bedfordshire boy and David jp in was kind of you both to reply to me.
Regards David W  (tokar47)

Huntingdonshire Lookup Requests / bassford, reachelous family
« on: Wednesday 15 May 13 18:07 BST (UK)  »
have tracked down my great x4 grandparents Benjamin Bassford (b 1751 Little Paxton) and his wife Mary Reachelous (b 1747 St Neots) they married in April 1787 I think in Toseland. There were several children and grand children, and my side of the family ended up in Saddleworth West Yorkshire about 100 years later in 1870something, Can anybody add anything to my research please.
