Shailee
I think I can add to your Knapman family - my wife is descended from Maria Mary Knapman born 1852 Devon and died 13/05/1924 - she married George Andrew Ray 25/19/1880 in Fitzroy, Victoria and moved to Sydney in the late 1880s.
Thanks
Garry

Magdalen - thank you for your reply and the information provided, which is gratefully accepted. Like you I am not 100% sure of Mary's date. But in the 1851 Devon Census - Mary is listed as being 54 and John 64 at Lashbrook North.
Will the photographs be on any web-sites.
Thanks
Garry

« on: Saturday 06 July 13 09:19 BST (UK)  »
Looking for anyone who may be connected to the Meyer family that emigrated on the Reiherstieg in 1852 from Hamburg, Germany. They were Heinrich and Johanna and their four children - Heinrich (Henry) my wife's ancestor, Carl, Friederich and Ferdinand. I believe they settled in and aroud Newtown.
Henry married Margaret O'Neill and then Susan McGowan. Henry died in 1888 after drowning in Sydney Harbour. He lived at Millers Point and was a butcher.

My ancestors were John Priest and Mary Daw(e) who were married at Buckland Filleigh. They had the following children Eliza b.1815 (my great(3) grandmother who married John Sanders 1845 and emigrated to Australia in 1855). Other children i believe are William, Richard, Mary Ann, Daniel, John, Lydia, Titus, Samuel, George. (all baptised in Thornbury)
I believe that some of the farms they lived on were Lashbrook, Windy Cross, Week Farm.
Mainly looking for date of deaths for John and Mary Priest.
Any information or assistance appreciated.

Hi list
Looking for information
My ancestor John Lyons was sentenced in April 1800 at the spring assizes in Tipperary to a life sentence and was transported on the Atlas (July 1802) to Australia.
According to an article by George Rude he was aged 32 and given a life sentence for his part in the Irish Rebellion of 1798.
I am looking for any information on John Lyons, his part in the rebellion and the 1800 spring assizes for Tipperary.
Any information or assistance will be appreciated
Thank You

Devon / Re: SANDERS family - assistance / guidance required
« on: Tuesday 05 March 13 10:57 GMT (UK)  »
To Dear DOB7 and Janey - Thank you for your assistance. It was the second marriage that confused me totally between Sussanna Sanders (Daniel) and John Hockin that I missed and threw my thought patterns out completely.
I sincerely thank you for sorting this out for me.
Regards
Garry
