Monmouthshire Lookup Requests / Re: 1871 census look up please for Rees
« on: Monday 30 September 13 01:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi,Gladys,

I am fairly new to this , so I hope you get this response. I replied to yoyr posts about the Rees
Heron, and Dowie line. My Rees line is somehow connected to John Rees who was birn about 1870 in Wales. John married Isabelle Heron in the late 1890's in Sangamon County, Illinois. John and Isabelle moced to Kittitas County,Washington and are there in the 1900 census. Living in their household is Frank Baugh whose wife, Mary, has died at only 27 years of age.  Mary was a sister to Isabelle. Frank Baugh's mither was born Delilah Rees in Monmouthshire, Wales. I have been able to find the connection between Delilah and John Rees.  I assume they are cousins, but i have not been able to prove this.  I did find death information for John Rees today on ancestry.com. His death info lists his parents as James Rees and Ann Thomas.  Does any of this sound familiar?r

Hi, again, Gladys,

I am desperately trying to get "into" rootschat so I can communicate with you. Although this does not answer your request, I have read other postings of yours and know you are researching Mary Dowie. I just came across the following information when researching the first wife of my great-grandfather's brother. The wife was Mary Heron who married Franklin Squire Baugh in Illinois in the 1890's before moving to Washington State. Mary died very quickly after they arrived in Wa:  JunBurial:

shington. It appears she was related to the "Dowie" woman you are researching. HOpe this helps.......

US Lookup Requests / Re: immigration look up please for Rees

Hello, Gladys,

I have tried to reach you earlier, but because I am new to this, I was told I needed to repost. I do NOT know the date of John Rees' immigration, but what I do know is that he was in Sangamon County, Illinois, (most likely the small town of Dawson) in the late 1800's. He married Isabell (or Isabella) Heron. John Rees and my great-grandfather's brother, Franklin Squire Baugh, married sisters. Franklin's wife's name was Mary Heron. Mary and Franklin ended up in Kittitas County about 1896. She died there after having a child, William Baugh. In the 1900 census, Frank Baugh and his son, William, are living with John Rees and Isabella. I have also noticed that in Kittitas are families with the surname of Kitchen. This was a VERY common surname in the Dawson, Illinois area. It is my belief that John Rees, Franklin Baugh, and Kitchen family members all immigrated to Washington state from Illinois in the mid 1890's.  Also, Franklin Baugh's sister-in-law, the wife of my great-grandfather, had the maiden name of Rees!!!!! I know John Rees and my great-grandmother, Delilah Rees Baugh were NOT siblings, but I have to assume they were related. I have been trying for some time to find the connection. Hopefully we can help each other.

Vicki

Hello,

I am totally new to rootschat so I hope I am doing this correctly.  I have seen your correspondence concerning the Heron and Rees families of Washington in the 1890's to the early 1900's. I am related to the Rees family of Sangamon County, Illinois, and believe that your Rees line and mine are connected. Here is what I know:
My great-grandmother was Delilah Rees who was born in 1863 in Monmouthshire, Wales. She, along with her father, Lewis James Rees (sometimes referred to as James Lewis), mother, Esther Davis, and siblings immigrated in about 1871. They ended up in Dawson, Sangamon County, Illinois. There, Delilah married William Baugh in 1862. William and Deliliah's son was Franklin Squire Baugh, the same Frank who is with John Rees in the 1900 census. Franklin's first wife was Mary Heron, sister to Isabella Heron. So.....we have sisters marrying possible cousins. Do you know much about the parents of John Rees?  I have to assume that John and Delilah Rees' fathers were "connected" in some way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
