I understand this is a longshot
My GGGGrandfather  lived in the area, his name was Creighton and his family moved to Ohio some time around 1845
I am hoping  his parents may be buried in the area, and I suspect that his fathers name was John or James

thank you both,  the 1880 census record is the last record I have of him, living with his daughter.
I have seen references to Jane Gilmore as his first wife and a "Mary" as his second but I cannot find any records for marriage death or divorce.
The descendants from Creighton and his wife  I am pretty sure of
I am trying to find out is who his father/mother were and when they came to the US and from Where.
I have seen some reports of his father being named James or John, and have found a record of a marriage between  John McCauley and Sarah Clemson in Lancaster county PA in 1776 that would put them roughly in the right place at roughly the right time but I cant find any birth records for them.

My GGGrandfather was Creighton McAuley, With many alternate spellings
Creton,Crayton, MccAuley,Macauley  ETC...
The earliest piece of evidence I can find is a 1830 Census record that has him in the city of Connellsville, in Fayette county Pennsylvania, his age at that time was 34 estimating his birth at or around 1796. and the record indicates he was born in Pennsylvania
I have seen conflicting information on the name of his wife and the age gap of his children indicates that perhaps he was married more than once. I have found nothing relating to his parents or where they may have come from.
Any Information would be appreciated.
Sean McAuley
