Dear Heywood,
Thank you for replying to my post!!
The first website you referred to was the correct one...they reference the marriage between Mary Frazer, who emigrated to America, and a William Johnston in 1815 (Generation 5, Item 9), but there is no genealogy on William and no children listed for Mary and William and therefore I cannot determine if it is the correct family and I don't know how to try to figure out if it is the correct family since I don't have enough information on my side for the Irish ancestry.
I have looked at the Griffiths Valuation (thank you very much), but again, I think I am stupid!!! There is one Johnston, but the name does not match...and there are Frazer's but with it only being men, it makes it hard to figure out. Plus the family emigrated to America in 1850...so maybe they missed the valuation and that is why they are not there....I just am beginning to think I am not smart enough to understand the records from these other countries.
AND the Tithe Applotment Books....I found a record with 2 William Johnston's....a Sr and a Jr....and that would match the family I am researching...but would it have a Jr that would be only about 6 years old??? Otherwise, again, nothing really matches what I think I know...but then again, maybe what I think I might know (not really) is not accurate and I am going in circles...
Any advice???
Thanks again for all of your help!!
Susan
